My dear friend,

How amazing is it that you get to have a private, personal encounter with the God of the Universe today, who is also your Father, through Christ! This is a GREAT day!

Begin by getting still. Right this moment, He is delighted to meet with you. Your time with Him is an oasis in all that is happening in your day. Ask Him to speak again through His Word. His joy is holy and amazing and you want to experience it. Turn your life and yourself over to His care for this time.

The Apostle Joh spent three years following Jesus. He was in the upper room at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the church, he witnessed the explosive growth of Christians, and he spent his life following Jesus as the youngest apostle (including writing a gospel, three epistles, and Revelation). He has things to say to you.

Read 1 John 1:1-4 slowly, out loud, three times. What things do we learn about God from these verses? Write them in an “attributes” column. Pause over each one and talk with Him about them.

Read 1 John 1:5-10 slowly, out loud, three times. What more do we learn about Jesus from these verses? Write them in the attributes column. Pause over each one and talk with Him about them.

It is clear that our Holy God and Father sent Jesus who is holy (light) and who intends to make us holy. List places where He wants you to be holy that you are not. As you write each one, confess it (agree with God about that it is sin). Repent, meaning tell Him that you wish you had done each of these differently and that you want to be different in these areas in the future. Ask His help for these.

Who are two people you know who don’t know Him? Pray for them that God would open their hearts and give you a chance to love them.

What things are before you today that you need the Lord’s help with? Ask His leading and help that in each of these things, He would be honored!

When will you remember His holiness today?
