Week 10, Day 4: Deploying

by Dan Weyerhaeuser, Senior Pastor

You want to meet with God because He reached out to you. Odds are, He used people to do it. It wasn’t just that they influenced you, somehow through them God worked deeply in your heart. He still reaches out to you including today. There is nothing more important for you to do today than to connect with Him .

Take a moment and remove your distractions. Note: your aim with “emptying” is not to become focused on nothing, but to focus on nothing besides Him. Give Him your undivided attention. Ask Him to bless your visit.

Open to Matthew 24. Jesus is nearing the end of His earthly ministry when Peter asks Him “When will the end come?” In the midst of that answer, Jesus says something that helps us in how we think about our role in the world.

Read Matthew 24 :14 three times.

God has planned to “bless all nations” through His “Kingdom of priests.” Here we see what this looks like. What will He see happen?

The word “gospel” means “good news.” The “Kingdom” is the realm or rule of the King. So we preach the good news of the rule of our King. Why is the rule of God good in our lives?

Thank Him that He is King. Remember the major areas of your life, that He is “King” of them (in other words He is in charge of them, and able to work in them). Tell Him you want His Kingdom to come in those, meaning His will to be done in every area of your life.

How is the “gospel preached” in the world but through us? He has deployed you as a part of His bringing His gospel to the people of the world. How do you feel about this? Talk with Him about it.

What is God waiting for, according to this passage?

Pray that God’s people would preach His gospel to the ends of the earth. Pray for the progress of the gospel.

Can you think of two people you will see today who don’t yet know the good Kingship of Christ? Take a moment and pray for both of them, that God’s Spirit would give them new birth. Then watch for how He brings you two together!

As you conclude: What is one truth about God from these texts you can take through your day? How can you remember it?

Now go spend your day with the God Who deploys you!
